A 35yr old woman with 105kg weight and 1`60cm height was admitted to the operating room for a total abdominal hysterectomy.
The preoperative airway assessment anticipated both difficult bag ventilation and intubation. The Airtraq helped to intubate this morbidly obese woman who had a BMI of 41kg/m2 within 12 seconds.
The Airtraq shortened the duration of intubation and prevented a reduction in the oxygen saturation. Hemodynamic changes (heart rate blood pressure) were minimal.
